Why choose SIG9's systems over a retail unit? Pre-built Surveillance Systems sold by stores or online are designed for the "lowest common denominator", meaning that the hardware will usually not meet your needs. For example, these retail system cameras have a generic field-of-view, which often is not suitable for a coverage area (either the camera is not focused close enough to your target location or is not wide enough to show your entire coverage area). Additionally, the recording servers are "closed-box" systems. This means that the server's memory, video processing and computing processing all happen on the same circuit board, leading to a system that cannot adequitely process multiple concurrent cameras. Being "closed-box" also means that there is no way to upgrade the recording server and if one component fails, the entire system is offline.

Since recording servers are mechanical things, it is possible that a hard drive or component can eventually go bad, and with a pre-built system, this leaves you in the dark until you purchase an entirely new unit. With SIG9's systems, they are built with the option of redundancy, allowing your system to continue to operate in this scenario.
Additionally, our servers are all built with standard, banking or military-grade encryption depending on your needs. Not only is the data stored on the recording server encrypted, but the transport of real-time and recorded footage to a remote viewing device is also encrypted. This ensures that only those you have authorized to have access to your camera feed can access it and removes the potential of hackers tapping in to your feed.
